Mind Agitators

A) Caffeine:
Can cause:
  1. nervousness.
  2. Anxiety.
  3. Insomnia.
  4. Irritability.

Acts by:

Increased elimination of calcium from the body.

Sources:

  1. Coffee- about 150 mg per cup.
  2. Black and some green teas, about 80 mg per cup.
  3. Cola, 30-45 mg per cup.

B) Refined Sugar.

Advert effects on the body:

  1. May cause hyperactivity.
  2. Increased anxiety.

Action through:

Vitamin B, especially thiamine is needed for the digestion of sugar. Excessive sugar consumption depletes vitamin B resources required for the normal activities.

Caution:

For some people, too little sugar can cause hypoglycemia which produces symptoms like trembling and anxiety.

C) Alcohol

Can produce a temporary sedating effect on the central nervous system.

High dose of alcohol will produce a stimulating effect.

It is addicting.

Acts By: Destroying Vitamin B

D) Nicotine

Can produce a sense of relaxation and pleasure. Yet more and more is needed over time.

Reduced intake will produce symptoms like anxiety, irritability, restlessness and insomia.

That is the reason why it is so hard to quit smoking.

Nutrients which help us to calm down

A) Calcium

Lemon Juice prevent s kidney stones

White bread may increase cancer risk

Eating more than four slices of white bread a day may double the risk of kidney cancer--- A study by Italian scientists on the diet records of 2300 people.

Reasons: White bread like refined sugar has high glycemic index. It may increase the blood sugar and insulin level. This spur the growth of cancer cells.

Healthy way: Reduce carbohydrate intake, and eat bread with 100 % whole grains

My New Year Resolution for Health

We invest a lot of time and money on how to increase our wealth. But how much time and money do we spend on our health? Without health, we will be labouring in vain, because we cannot harvest or enjoy our fruits of labour.

My new year resolution so far as health is concern:
1) Exercise at least twice per week
2) Get sufficient sleep, sleep will help you to recuperate. Without sufficient sleep, even the best nutrition and other health programs will not prevent you from accelerated aging.
3) Eat less animals' meat.
4) Eat more vegetables and fruits, but avoid the too sweet ones.
5) Try to cook for ourselves as often as possible.
6) Avoid processed foods.
7) Acquire at least twice per week on health related information.

Chocolate is good for the heart

According to a study by Dutch scientists on more than 500 people over a time span of 15 years.
Those who take chocolate daily will reduce heart diseases by 50 %.
Chocolate contains antioxidants which will activate nitric oxide, an enzyme which relaxes the blood vessels. This will help the heart to transport the blood throughout the body easier.
The benefits will be reaped by consuming 4 grams of chocolate daily.
