Scientific Name: Thiamine

Characteristic: water soluble. With mild diuretic effect.

RDA:

  • 1.2-1.4 mg for adult;
  • 1.4 mg during lactation and pregnancy.
  • More while undergoing operation or during sickness.

Fumctions:

  • Promote growth.
  • Help in the digestion of carbohydrates.
  • Promote healthiness of mental health.
  • Maintain normal function of nerves, muscles and heart.
  • Help to prevent sea-sick.

Deficiency diseases:

  • Beri-Beri
